WE’RE HERE TO HELP!

Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL-CT) is Connecticut’s lawyer assistance program providing crisis intervention and referral services to the Connecticut legal community. We are lawyer funded, lawyer supported and committed to helping members of the Connecticut legal community overcome personal, mental and addiction problems.

We believe that lawyers need to take care of one another.  Our services are on a person-to-person basis with a commitment to anonymity and confidentiality.  

We have helped lawyers across Connecticut address and manage a broad range of personal challenges. As lawyers, we understand the needs and difficulties of those in the legal community when the time comes to seek help.

Our experience has affirmed that the earlier a problem is addressed, the better the outcome.

Our Mission Statement

Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers – Connecticut, Inc. (“LCL-CT”) is a Connecticut non-profit corporation established pursuant to C.G.S. § 51-81d to, among other things:

  • Promote well-being in the legal profession;
  • Provide assistance to lawyers, judges and law students who experience substance use disorders, mental health conditions, compulsive disorders (including gambling or other addictions), stress, the effects of aging or other distress that impairs that individual’s ability to function;
  • Aid in the curtailment of malpractice claims and disciplinary complaints; and
  • Educate (1) the legal profession about substance abuse disorders, mental health conditions and other conditions and any stigma associated therewith that may impact the ability to practice law effectively; and (2) families and loved ones of Connecticut lawyers, judges, and law students about the scope of services offered by the Connecticut lawyer assistance program.

David Williams

Executive Director

Rocky Hill, CT, July 1, 2021 – Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers- Connecticut, Inc. (LCL-CT) announced today Atty. David Williams as the new Executive Director at the helm of the Connecticut lawyer assistance program in Rocky Hill. Williams assumed responsibilities July 1, 2022 and follows in the footsteps of the organization’s long-time director, Atty. Beth Griffin.

LCL-CT provides crisis intervention and referral services to the Connecticut legal community. The program is lawyer funded, lawyer supported and committed to helping members of the Connecticut legal community overcome personal, mental health and addiction problems. Attorney Williams brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to the position. He worked in the Connecticut Judicial Branch for many years and also spent valuable time in the private practice of law. A “Friend of Bill W.”, he has been engaged in the recovery community for over three decades. His private law practice focused on individuals and families in
crisis.

Williams has been an active volunteer and participant in the Connecticut lawyers’ assistance program for over a decade.  He is a reliable presence, offering support, patience, understanding, and guidance to colleagues and any member of the Connecticut legal community who reaches out to LCL for information or help.

Atty. David Williams is from Berlin, CT. He received his JD degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law and his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southern Connecticut State University. When not at a meeting or helping a colleague, Atty. Williams can be found biking from his home in West Hartford to Niantic or other destinations.
